Visit the Cathedrale d’Images

The Cathédrale d’Images is an ideal place to visit during your stay at Benvengudo Hotel. Located in the village of Les Baux-de-Provence, the Cathédrale is approximately 20 minutes away from Benvengudo on foot. The Cathédrale The Cathédrale d’Images is a permanent display in Les Baux, and was founded in 1976 by Albert Plécy. Plécy’s goal in creating the display was to present a “total visual experience.” Plécy achieved this by projecting the large images onto the immense stone walls of the Val d’Enfer, a valley cut into the rock by water erosion. The Cathédrale has seen considerable investment over the years. The high ceilings, walls and pillars of untouched limestone serve as a three-dimensional screen, a magical projection of giant slides where the viewer is immersed in a visual and musical show. Every year there is a new show, related to a specific theme. Val d’Enfer The Val d’Enfer is something to visit in itself. Years of water erosion have sculpted the rocks into the strange and fantastical shapes that can be seen today. At dusk, the fading light has led many to believe that they have seen rocks and caves of Dante’s Inferno. Jean Cocteau, French writer and film-maker, filmed his “Testament of Orpheus” with the Val d’Enfer as a natural backdrop. Benvengudo Hotel The Cathédrale d’Images is an ideal place for people who want to explore the heritage and culture of Provence. It is an innovative cultural space that will deepen your understanding of the robust creative tradition that exist in Southern France. With the Cathédrale only a short walk away, you can explore everything it has to offer when you stay at Benvengudo Hotel.
