On the Alpilles wine route | Stage 2

Hotel Benvengudo has taken you along the Alpilles wine route from Mas de la Dame to Mas de Gourgonnier. Now it is time for the second step of a wine discovery from Domaine de Vallongue to Château d’Estoublon.
And if you wish to taste wine without taking the road, book your Tuesday 28 May for a free event at the Benvengudo, to discover the wines of Château Romanin….

Domaine de Vallongue

Start, or continue, your wine route trip with a stop at Domaine de Vallongue.
With its 300 hectares of land, south of the Alpilles peaks, characterized by a setting of scrubland and rocks, this estate with its mineral and spicy soil has been cultivating vines since 1985. On a new soil, Mr. Latouche develops the grape varieties even more adapted to the soil of Vallongue. Come and meet a passionate team and taste the cuvées of this estate, which has been converted to organic farming and which highlight the authenticity and heritage of this preserved terroir.

Mas Carlin

Follow the direction of Chemin de Rousty and come to the sunny slopes of the Alpilles massif. Near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Les Baux, Mas Carlin is a family estate that produces, vinifies and markets its wines. This vineyard offers warm red wines on the palate and rosé wines produced exclusively by the “saignée” method for fine notes of citrus fruits, mango and dried fruits.

Experience an immersion in a setting of fresh and shaded greenery along the Roman road that linked Rome to Spain.

Domaine Grand Fontanille

A few kilometers to the south, stop at Domaine du Grand Fontanille.
Surrounded by pine forests and oak groves, with the song of cicadas in summer and enjoying almost total silence in winter, the Domaine’s vines enjoy an exceptional microclimate. Thanks to these conditions, you will find wines with very characteristic aromas.
A selection of organic, red and rosé wines, made from Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are to be discovered…

Le Grand Castelet

Now take the road to Arles and stop at the Grand Castelet wine estate along the Rhône river with its 200 hectares, alternating vineyards, woods and crops.
In the Gallego-Pouget family, this wine-making process has been passed on for generations: the grapes harvested take the shady path of the hundred-year-old plane trees to be vinified in a natural cold room, thanks to the thick stone walls of the cellar.

The authenticity of the place will make you travel.

Château d’Estoublon

Finish this Alpilles wine route with one of the most remarkable sites in the Baux-de-Provence Valley: the Domaine d’Estoublon. Over time, this privileged place has been able to enhance its history and its unusual architecture and it is now Rémy and Valérie Reboul who are entrusted with these lands, where passion rhymes with perfection. Near Fontvieille, Château d’Estoublon is renowned for its tannic wine and olive oil from AOP les Baux-de-Provence.

Come and taste its prestigious cuvées and why not, accompany them with local products.
